Do you drive a Honda Clarity, Insight, Accord Hybrid or other Honda hybrid model? If so, your drive in and out of Atlanta and on major highways just got a lot easier. That's because you're eligible to apply for an AFV (Alternative Fuel Vehicle) license plate that allows you to ride in HOV and HOT lanes legally. Alternative Fuel Vehicle plated vehicles can also ride in “Express” HOT lanes toll free.

Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) displaying the proper alternative fuel license plate may use HOV and HOT lanes, regardless of the number of passengers. Qualified AFVs may also use the HOT lanes toll-free. AFVs include plug-in electric vehicles and bi-fuel or dual-fuel vehicles that operate on natural gas or propane. Applicants must provide proof they have paid registration fees in full before receiving the license plate. This exemption expires September 30, 2025. 8-year/100,000-mile warranty covers abnormal loss of capacity in the hybrid’s high-voltage battery. Other warranties may provide additional coverage for the high-voltage battery. See dealer for details. High-voltage batteries degrade over time with use. Gradual capacity loss is expected and not covered under warranty.
